The M.A.C. Marinarena Advent Calendar, Entry 3

Entry # 3 : A new door opened. What’s behind?

Chill Playlist song : “Close My Eyes” – performed by Gloria Estefan

See video of song from Gloria Estefan Fan TV.

One of the very mellow and melodic tracks on the playlist.

(Hear full Marinarena Chill Playlist is listed on Spotify.)

It was released and indeed captures the lush balladry pop/soft rock of the early 90s . Lyrically speaking, the song still resonates in this current time, a kind of anthem for those seeking “safe space” where all is right and protected.  “Close My Eyes” represents a stillness of time. Lay back and close your eyes with  buds on, legs kicked up as you enter a chill realm, escape from the harsh reality of life…

“If I could just close my eyes/ See just what I wanted to see/It would be much easier to live this life…”

Ultimately, the song proves to be an anti safe space song, acknowledging the lucid reality of now… ‘”What good is it to close my eyes or tell myself another lie/Gotta get along somehow…” But for three min or so, get into the relaxed, dreamy “feels” of the track gloriously sung by Estefan.

This is the 8th track from the Into the Light album by Estefan (Remember when we referred to track number of album-or even regarding a collection of songs from a recording artist as “album”. My fellow audiophiles know what I’m talking about!

Moreover, on the Advent Calendar

Whether you love to celebrate Christmas or not, don’t you just love the concept of the advent calendar as a way to countdown the days ’til Christmas? With each new day, a delicious surprise. Push in a door of a chocolate filled box and revealed is a wonderful morsel. But it does not have to be a choco chunk or one of those delectable liqueur-filled chocolate as the advent calendar treat. Enjoy either of these “morsels” from Marinarena.com from Dec 1- Dec 25:

This post was inspired by a travel office e-mail on Saxony, Germany. Saxony is an eastern state of Germany which borders Poland and the Czech Republic. Major towns within include Leipzig and the capital of Dresden. It is believed that the advent calendar was invented in Saxony in the mid-1800s.
